At the Michigan Chapter of Veteran Support Center, we pride ourselves in the fact that we have a 99.9% approval rating on all of our claims. Our claims are ready-to-rate, meaning they have all the information in them necessary for the VA to make an immediate rating decision. They are prepared by a VA-accredited staff with over 10 years of experience whose goal it is to simplify this very complicated process. If you're application cannot be approved, we will not send it in. Instead, we will help you understand what steps need to be taken in order to help you become qualified.
Waiting for approval of your claim can be difficult. We have seen cases approved in as little as a month; however, the average approval time is about six months. (This is actually a great improvement on the historical wait time--10 years ago this process could take anywhere from 9 months to 2 years!)

Remember the benefit is retroactive. This makes the wait worth it in the end. The VA is going to pay retroactively all those months that you had to wait, starting with the first day of the following month your application was received by the VA.
When first applying for the benefit, you may want to work with the community the veteran or surviving spouse is living in. If they know of our organization, they are aware of our 99.9% approval of 500 claims per year. They may be able to work out other arrangements with you. If you are a community director, you are probably familiar with our good reputation and standard of excellence.
Another good suggestion is to call the VA and ask status on the claim at least 60 days after your claim has been submitted. When you call, VA staff is required to physically pull the file. You will be required to give the password you entered on the Third Party form. Because the staff member actually has to pull the file, it may help expedite your claim. You can contact the VA Milwaukee Pension Center (where the majority of Michigan's claims are sent for Aid & Attendance) for status at 877-294-6380.
We support you throughout this whole process as your representative, offering a full-service for the Aid & Attendance benefit. Families can call our office with any questions during the waiting period, and even after approval. Moving to a new community? Call us. We'll provide the forms you need. Received a letter from VA? We will assist with your response.
Let us help your loved one today. We have the standard in VA Aid & Attendance applications.
If you know someone who could benefit from the Aid & Attendance program, give us a call. We do not charge for our services and provide a total solution program to apply for the benefit. All of our claims are processed right here in Michigan at our Sterling Heights office.
