There are several solutions to check out:
- The county clerk's office where the veteran returned to after the war.
- National Archives website: www.archives.gov. On the home page you can click "Veteran's Service Records" and request a copy if one is on record.
- Michigan Department of Military & Veteran Affairs website: www.mich.gov/dmva. Click "Request Pertaining to Military Records" You should be able to obtain a copy if one is on record there.
Military service is the most important qualification, because if it is not met, the veteran or spouse is not eligible for the VA Aid & Attendence Beneft.
